Scaling Back

Wayne Helliwell Jr. and Bruce Bernhardt have made the decision not to chase the Castrol Serie Canadian Tour in 2013. Recent medical complications have derailed the Teams original plan to compete for both American and Canadian Tour championships.

With Team owner Bruce Bernhardt recovering from a broken hip three weeks ago the EKeys-4-Cars, Unique Ford Fusion machine will look to stay closer to home to give Bernhardt much needed healing time.

"We've spent a lot of time discussing this over the last few weeks," said Helliwell. "It was something we really wanted to do. But it's just not practical right now with Bruce's injury. He's had some major complications with it and those 6-7 hour rides will not help the situation. Plus there is some family illnesses that were a deciding factor to stay closer to home. We needed to make the call before attending the first race so we didn't get caught in it… There is always next year."

The Pelham, NH based team will stick to regional weekly racing on off weekends from the Tour when time and healing allow.
